March is all about the weather
If you’re lucky enough to fish before the cold fronts you will experience some great spring fishing. Lately before the fronts the water is in the mid seventies bringing the Snook and Tarpon out. We are in a transition month where the winter fishing and spring fishing days apart. After a cold front the snook and tarpon take a back seat. Lately after the fronts I’ve been focusing on Trout, Pompano and Redfish. I have been doing well with jigs and flys worked slowly and deep. Between fronts when the water reaches the seventies, we’ve been having great action on Snook fishing the outside islands. Most of the fish have been in the slot and just under (28-33”) with a few over.
Within the next month the fronts will fade and the water temps will stay in the seventies and above, this will be the best time to get your big Snook and Tarpon. I like to fish around the bait schools that should be arriving anytime. When you find the bait you find the fish.
The best fishing of the year is just about here.
Go get em!
